There are many variations of poker out there.

Best

If you’ve ever watched a movie in which people play texas holdem poker, it seems like the best hands — full houses, royal flushes, and four of a kind — just seem to pop up all over the place. The truth is that they are extremely rare — so let’s take a look at some of the real odds for some of the best poker hands. The World Series of Poker was only in its seventh year in 1976, yet it featured one of the most memorable hands of all time. While heads-up in the Main Event against Jesse Alto, Doyle “Texas Dolly”.

All with different rules.

But one form of the game called cash games differs with the fact that actual cash is played within the game.

The significant difference between various tournaments and cash game tournaments is that the chips being used in cash games have value in and out of the game.

Unlike other poker games where the chips do not have any value outside the game, another rule of cash games is that there is no time limit and players can enter and exit as they seem fit.

Cash games do take some nerve to get playing and winning, especially since real money is being bet.

Rather than buying into the game and then playing with the chips that do not have a value.

We provide some of the best poker hands that you need to know about while playing cash games.

When it comes to playing hands in cash games, it is pretty similar to any other poker game.

The royal flush

The best hand possible out there, from the two cards you are dealt and the 5 cards which could be provided as the community cards. You can make 5 cards which contain this sequence A K Q J 10. All have to be of the same suit that is the best hand in the game of poker.

Straight Flush

Similar to a royal flush but this hand consists of 5 cards in sequence but of the same suit. For example, the 6 5 4 3 2 cards from the hearts club would be a straight flush.

4 of a kind

The name says it all, having the same card for all 4 suits. For example 4 kings and a 3 of any suit would constitute a 4 of a kind, the third strongest hand possible in any form of poker behind the Royal Flush and Straight Flush.

Full house

This hand contains three cards of the same rank and a pair of cards from another rank. For example 3 aces of different suits and a couple of fives from other suits.

Flush

This hand consists of 5 cards which are from the same suit but are not in any sequence. For example, this sequence of club cards would be a flush the 10 8 5 3 2

Straight

This hand consists of a sequence of cards, but those cards must fall in between two suits and two suits alone. For example, the Q 10 8 are the clubs while the J and 9 are from the hearts.

3 of a kind

As the name suggests, the 3 of a kind consists of 3 cards which are off the same denomination while the other cards can be anything.

2 pair

This consists of two cards of the same rank and another set of cards which are of another rank. For example a set of cards which contain a pair of aces and a pair of 10’s

1 pair

As the name suggests, this would include one pair which is off the same rank while the other 3 cards are different.

High card

No pairs in this setting, it only consists of 1 high card in the 5 card hand.

The best way to start gathering up a hand is looking at the two cards you are dealt.

You have to be a little discreet when you do look at these cards as you do not want to give away your hand to the other players at the table.

The best option that a player can get at the start of the game is a pair of high ranked cards like aces of kings.

This opens a lot of possibilities for them to try out or at least hope for better combinations for any stages in the game.

One thing a player should always be on the lookout for is what the opponents are doing when playing any game of poker.

This is almost a golden rule when playing a game of poker as what the opponent does at the table more often than not gives away a lot.

So keep an eye out and good luck with your cash games!

Was Chris Moneymaker’s legendary bluff versus Sammy Farha the best hand in World Series of Poker history? That’s what we’ll find out when it comes up against five others to find ‘the most memorable WSOP TV hand’ of all time…

The 50th Anniversary edition of the WSOP will feature a ‘First Fifty Honors’ gala held at the end of June, with a number of awards being voted on and handed out, including the title of ‘WSOP’s favorite bad boy’ – sure to be a hard-fought affair!

Back to Moneymaker, though, and ‘the bluff of the century’ as commentator Norman Chad termed it.

Moneymaker shoved his entire stack in the middle as the poker world watched on in awe – an all-in bluff heads-up that could have cost the hitherto unknown accountant his place in history.

The soon to be famous Tennessean, however, wasn’t quite so worried – telling The Las Vegas Review Journal:

“I never really thought he was going to call. I just thought he had, at best, one pair, and I didn’t think he would call with one pair”.

Despite Farha’s suspicion that his soon-to-be illustrious opponent had bricked the river - “You must have missed your flush draw, huh?” was Farha’s guess – he folded the best hand and would go on to lose out on the most-coveted gold bracelet of all.

The former accountant whose name became synonymous with the global rise of poker – both live and online given that he had satellited his way into the Main Event – won’t be a shoo-in for the new title.

With five other hands up for the honour – as well as a public vote which could boost that number of options for the online vote – it could be a close-run affair, but big Chris has a double shout at winning.

Have a look yourself and see which of the six would be the ultimate WSOP hand of poker!
